hello,
I'm back and and I proud to announce a game that took me 3 days to develop.
Although it is not the FPS project I was working on untill I got frustrated with the scripts problem....
This thing is fun now, But I hope to make it more fun once it hits V2.0

and yes I know some sfx are missing and the .wav files are not being converted to surround sound as they should be.
Improvement list (may grow larger):

  1. souround sound
  2. explosions need to be bigger !
  3. ship health?

 

Problems 07.07.2008

How many hand granades does it take to blow through 14 feet of reinforced concrete?
answer: less than 3,432,0002 granades (if you have good aim.)
How many estimated lightning strikes per second around the world?
answer:  about 100.


This isn't a set of problems you find everyday on a blogpost.... heh I'm getting good.
And I even know the answers!

Another what I did today 06.22.2008

hmmm. well I invented a new type of art: "shapeburst"
well at least that's what I call it. you just put a shape in a circle and destroy/shatter the circle according to the collisions between the circle and the shape.you can see some examples of this art in the gallery.
(sorry the images are shrunk down versions of their HD counterparts.)

I have also been using blender as a vector graphics editing program and it has been working very well.

Uh, I'm not typing about the natural phenomenon of rainbow rings around the sun that appear through refraction of liquid/solid translucent materials in the atmosphere. I'm typing about the tough guys that skate around and play hockey. I have created a 3D replica of the logo in my favorite 3d program: Blender(suprise, suprise...I bet you didn't see that one coming.)

thats about all I did today along with some compositing and animating....

I have been analyzing a few snippets of python code lately and have found It easy to understand when you know what to look for.

I'll get this working in a couple hours; hopefully.

I have failed(for today).... I don't know python but I have sucess In finding over 20 ways not to modify scripts.

Game (continued) 06.06.2008

things are looking better now that I changed a couple settings in the blender game engine...
1.collisions don't look as fake
2.I made 40 new objects (mostly random objects)
--example: boxes, desk, computer parts, sodamachines, soda cans, guns, (and don't forget the exploding barrels). --just to name some.

I plan to texture it later, and refine the game logic.

 

 

And for the microsoft internet explore users who can't access the rest of my site because of the navbar being hidden by a messy CSS code. I'm really sorry.....    I'll have to make that new layout soon...

Game frustration 06.01.2008

due to problems unforseen I have deciede to remake the game as the problems just keep on coming, I think I have a solution that will get rid of unneccesary problems and get the game done a bit faster....

(sorry for my misspellings at the moment, and I hope i can pull this off pretty fast...)

I just looked the following phrase up on the internet and didn't find any exact results..
so from now on freshsurge.com takes up the title: project web site.

I think i'll add "the original" in front. and once I make this wesite a community website then I'll add community.
so some time in the (near/far?) future we will have the title:  "the original community project web site."

but for now we'll just have the subtitle be: "project web site."

If you want to gripe about it, too bad.

After I resumed the project It took me two days to finish the model  
take a look at the gallery!
fully armitured and textured. Still need to make the action constraints on the hands better...
see these things are never done. You can always make them better.

problems continue, some progress 05.29.2008

Blender is a good tool for game projects but leaves a lot to be desired...
Me and my buddy got together and worked together today, besides problems with lighmaps for the level and normal mapping issues the game is progressing slowly but surely...

Today I completed a sentry turret, it still needs to be textured.
I finally gave in and made a 2000x2000px image for the levels lightmap. It could look better... but I just want to get this game done.
